From Black Tees to Confident Ken: My Style Evolution with Stitch Fix

For the past few years, my wardrobe has been simple, consistent, and, in my opinion, foolproof. Fresh Clean Threads black t-shirts. That’s it. Every single day. No patterns, no colors, no second-guessing. I’ve perfected the art of effortless dressing, and honestly, it’s been great.

Black t-shirts are my thing. They’re “thinning,” right? I think I look great in black. Plus, wearing the same thing every day eliminates one more decision I have to make. Who needs the hassle of picking out an outfit when you can grab a trusty black tee and move on with your life? My wife, however, is less thrilled. She’s been vocal (very vocal) about how my monochromatic wardrobe is driving her crazy.

But here’s the thing: I hate shopping. The thought of stepping foot in a mall, sifting through racks of clothes, and trying stuff on? No, thank you. And when I do make the rare attempt, nothing ever fits right. Colors and patterns feel like a gamble. Black t-shirts, on the other hand, are a safe bet—they’re comfortable, reliable, and never let me down.

Then, something happened. I got introduced to the world of Stitch Fix. As a 50-something guy who’s been set in his ways for years, I didn’t think this was for me. But the idea of having someone else figure out my wardrobe was intriguing. So, I gave it a shot.

Turns out, Stitch Fix is a game-changer. It’s like having your own personal stylist without having to endure the mall. After answering a few questions about my size, preferences, and style (or lack thereof), my stylist got to work. And let me tell you, she’s nailed it every single time.

The clothes fit perfectly, and they’re items I’d never even think to pick out on my own. Bright colors, trendy styles, even… patterns. When I put them on, I’m transformed into what I now call “Confident Ken.” It feels good to step out of my comfort zone and into something that makes me look and feel sharp.

Now, don’t worry, Fresh Clean Threads. Those black t-shirts aren’t going anywhere. They’re still my go-to for casual days and video shoots (because black doesn’t reflect—it’s practical!). But when I need to step up my game? I’m getting my Fix on.

Who knew a few new outfits could make such a big difference? My wife is thrilled, I feel more confident, and I didn’t have to endure the agony of traditional shopping. If you’re stuck in a wardrobe rut like I was, give Stitch Fix a try. You might just discover your own version of Confident Ken.
